U.S. RATIFY CEDAW: The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. Read more from PeaceWomen. The U.S. is the only democracy that has not ratified CEDAW. Conservative politicians have actively fought against ratification of CEDAW and thwarted any attempt to introduce a vote before the full Senate. CEDAW strengthens the United States as a global leader in standing up for women and girls, and it affirms that women’s rights are human rights. The Obama administration strongly supports ratification and has included CEDAW as one of the multilateral treaties it has identified as a priority. The CEDAW treaty has been voted favorably out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee twice with bipartisan support, but has never been brought to the Senate floor for a vote. Contact your Senator and urge a vote to ratify CEDAW. |
STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING
